The Nasty Queer Pigs of New York

Nasty Pig was founded in 1994 by husbands David Lauterstein and Frederick Kearney in New York City. Since then, the brand’s perspective has certainly been influenced by the city where it was originated. “New York doesn’t ask you to be anything other than who you are — it demands it,” Lauterstein explains. “This campaign is our way of honoring the people who lead with truth, creativity, and courage, and who continue to push our community forward simply by being themselves.”

We love to challenge people’s perceptions of what Nasty Pig is and who we dress,” Lauterstein says, teasing that the campaign previews the future of Nasty Pig within queer culture. “We make so much more than jockstraps. Highlighting our full collection on this cast of queer luminaries shows that anyone embracing their sexuality and queer identity can be a Nasty Pig.”

With the help of 10 iconic queer New Yorkers, Nasty Pig is celebrating 30 years of queer sexual positivity with a bold new campaign entitled “Real Nasty Pigs of New York” captured by Nasty Pig’s art director and photographer, Sam Waxman.

This year’s lineup includes trailblazers and legends such as Griffin Maxwell Brooks, Alan Cumming, Mickey Boardman, Brian Sims, Jake Cornell, and Brian Kenny who reflect on their experiences and the importance of freedom and embracing identity through candid conversations while modeling items from Nasty Pig’s latest collection.
