We always knew that Liam Campbell the creative force behind ELSKA (our favorite) gay photozine was silvered tongue, but we are still very impressed by how he persuaded so many local gay men discard their clothes in the cold climes of Saskatchewan, and Quebec, Canada. Considered to be part of the country’s Northern Territories, Saskatchewanians live primarily in the southern prairie half of the province, while the northern half is mostly forested and sparsely populated. Judging from the portfolio that Campbell shot up there, it looks stunningly beautiful, so you could think of the men as a bonus.
He started prepping this issue in Regina, but he felt too hemmed in by their conservative culture , so he packed his cameras and set off for Quebec …. and more men. For once, you may notice the zine split into two distinct halves, both very Canadian, but like a tale of two ends of the Canadian cultural spectrum.
