We wrote recently about the despicable behavior of De Santis and The Orange Man in The White House who decided that rainbow crosswalks are a threat to roadway safety. Even more shameful is that one of the crosswalks targeted is part of the Pulse Remembrance Memorial in Orlando, honoring the 49 lives – most of them LGBTQ and Latin. : in one of the deadliest acts of hate violence in U.S. history
But today, for a change, \ there is good news from Orlando as the city has announced plans to purchase the Pulse nightclub site and build a permanent memorial honoring the 49 lives lost in 2016.
This is an important step toward remembrance and healing – but the fight isn’t over. Florida officials still need to take responsibility and restore the rainbow crosswalk that once stood outside Pulse – a powerful symbol of pride and resistance that was removed under a directive from the Trump administration.
| The Pulse memorial belongs to the community, and the rainbow crosswalk must return to honor that legacy. PLEASE add your name and call on Florida leaders to protect and reinstate the rainbow crosswalk: https://brnw.ch/21wXaVC |
