The Art of Drag : a 10 week Performer Course to set you on the path to stardom

Back in 2015 Brit Drag Act, Cabaret Host, and Actor Michael Twaits, Host of Prides Got Talent, had the inspired idea of starting The Art of Drag a 10-week drag performers course. Twaits told Queerguru “The Art Of Drag isn’t about teaching. It’s creating a space that is non-competitive to start exploring performance and technical skills to create the best drag possible. We don’t limit drag to a gender, a set of rules or a specific performance style – we just wanted to create place where performers could grow, experiment and learn.”

The Art Of Drag is a performance focused on leading you through the process of creating your own solo routine – giving you the skills you need to develop a character, structure and choreograph a routine and then go on to launch yourself as a professional drag performer. The course includes master classes on hosting, creating a character, alt performance, lip- sync and comedy – before going on to teach you about the business of cabaret. At the end of the course, you will have the opportunity to launch your professional career as a drag performer with a showcase at Drag Graduation the world-famous Royal Vauxhall Tavern.

Full credit to Twaits for providing this opportunity to learn the art and practice the craft the right away instead of merely putting on a frock and some extreme makeup just to apply to Drag Race.

Now the latest Course is complete Michael Twaits is back at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern to present a new crop of Drag Graduates After ten weeks of hard work, these talented graduates are coming together for an evening of original solo performances, to flaunt all that they’ve been working on.
