THAILAND has allocated millions to the National Health Security Office to provide health services for its 200,000 transgender citizens

 

On the heels of all the major cuts that Trumps administration has made to the trans community as part of their campaign to destroy it completely, there is at least good news from the other side of the world in a country is intent on helping those in need. Thailand’s Public Health Ministry has just announced that it has allocated millions to the National Health Security Office.  As part of its budget planning for 2025, the National Health Security Board approved 145.63 million baht to provide health services, including hormone therapy, to approximately 200,000 transgender citizens of the country.

Deputy government spokesman Anukool Pruksanusak said there is growing acceptance of diverse gender identities, and acknowledged that transgender individuals may often require hormone therapy to assist them in transitioning until their physical appearance aligns with their gender identity.  Coming on the heels of the Governements recent passage of a marriage equality law last year  they are now emphasizing not only physical health care but mental health care for LGBTQ individuals,
