South London’s down-to-earth VINEGAR STROKES goes all Camp

Confession time : no one in the Queerguru Office has watched Drag Race for years. We appreciate that it still enjoys a remarkable overwhelming success and is so  very popular BUT it simply just doesn’t rock our boats anymore. Each to their own eh?

We were however  highly intrigued with what the Brits would make of the new Drag Race UK as we may (just) share a common language, but their Drag Queens are world’s apart from the, dare we say, over shiny ones that inhabit the US show.  What the English ones are famous for in particular is their raw talent and their main focus being the very earthy humor which they have literally taken from the streets. It’s not that they don’t look good too, but that is not an obsession with them, and their outfits tend to compliment their personalities rather than overwhelm them.

When Daniel Jacobs is not his drag personna Vinegar Strokes   he is appearing in the hit queer musical Everybody’s Talking About Jaime in London’s West End.    He created Vinegar in 2015 and has been enjoying great success on the cabaret and club scene very since.  He also was selected as one of the first contestants of the new UK Drag Race  which may have helped him get his new music video released this week.

However what we love about the video  CAMP is that despite her new taste of fame (!) is  Vinegar Strokes  is still decidedly so very South London : there are no airs and graces to her in this really infectious track that was shot on a low-budget with a great deal of energy even it had a very homemade feel to it.  Take a look.  We are sure we are going to see a lot more of Vinegar regardless of what happens on Ru Paul’s Show

PS Until a few minutes ago we had no idea of where Vinegar got her stage name from, but Urban Dictionary helped us out.  For those with with narrow mind, we suggest  that you stop reading now

The point during sexual intercourse where a man is irreversibly about to blow his load. The very worst time to have to cease coitus in an emergency.
