Singer SADE ends her 6 year recording silence with new music to honor her trans son

 

Nigerian/British ‘smooth operator’ SADE is back with new music aftar a six year ‘break’ .  She is part of Transa, a new compilation album from activist music organization Red Hot which features a whole collection of trans and nonbinary artists. they include Sam Smith, Hunter Schafer, Perfume Genius, Clairo, and more

Sade’s song, “Young Lion,” is dedicated to  her trans child, Izaak Theo Adu. Its somewhat of a surprise move as in the past Sade has been somewhat reticent in sharing any oparts of  her private  However Adu  had written in an Instagram caption in 2019, alongside a photo with his mother. “Thank you for fighting with me to complete the man I am. Thank you for your encouragement when things are hard, for the love you give me. The purest heart.

Trans people have always existed, with many different names across time and culture, often as spiritual healers and leaders,” said a message on Sade’s social media.  As global systems continue to fail humanity and all life on Earth, the journey taken by trans people – and all peoples who have been oppressed – is a blueprint of possibility. May this be a glimpse of our collective liberation, and the light inside all of us.”

 

With the release of this song, Sade remains one of the many celebrities who is vocal in her support of their trans child, including Charlize Theron, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union, and Cynthia Nixon.

 

Transa will be released on November 22.
