Scissors Sisters’s JAKE SPEARS makes his movie debut in the highly anticipated PILLION a BDSM film

More sizzling news has landed on Queerguru’s desk about (one of) the most highly anticipated queer films this Fall.  We wrote recently about our first look at PILLION starring Alexander Skarsgård as an enigmatic biker who starts a BDSM relationship with Harry Melling a timid gay man. The film had its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on 18 May 2025, where it won the section’s Best Screenplay prize. The film is fascinating in its depiction of how satisfied people can be in sexually charged dynamics that some might consider unusual. After all, Ray (Skarsgård) says, just because what they are might make you uncomfortable shouldn’t be their problem.

Now we have learned that Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears appears as Kevin, a member of Ray’s BDSM biker gang. In a recent interview, Shears said of his character: “I play a sub bottom boy who’s in a long-term relationship. I’m sort of in the scene that the movie takes place in, and I’ve been around for a lot longer than Harry [Melling’s] character. So there’s a little bit of rivalry, a little bit of jealousy.

Sheers told Attitude ‘Ive always been sexually adventerous.  It was such a wicked experience though.  I had a really good time.’

Shears  made  his Broadway debut in Kinky Boots back in 2017 and recently played the Emcee in the West End’s revival of Cabaret in 2023, but this will be his first onscreen experience.  “when I read the script for the first time, it really made me smile, it made me sad, it’s heartbreaking. It’s got all of these different feelings in it, and it just was not what I expected. And when I read the orgy scene in the script, I was just like, ‘Oh my God.’”

Although some of the more explicit sex scenes landed up on the cuttimg room floor, audiences still get an eyeful and Shears gets a mouthful with Ray’s pierced prosthetic phallus.

P.S. Pillon is slated for a theatrical release in the US in February so we guessing that A24 dont think its Oscar worthy. Shame that!
