Queerguru’s John Guillot reviews the ‘fabulous’ KALEIDOSCOPE the animal-less Circus for Grown Ups (esp gay ones!)

Although Kaleidoscope is by definition a Circus, the show is anything but ordinary. It is currently showing in San Francisco, and to give some insight, the only animal you will see is an adorable white Maltese-like dog that is impossible not to fall in love with and that dazzles guests with their talents before the show officially starts.

I refer to the audience as guests, because the tent where it is held is substantial, but cozy, and it feels more intimate than a typical show in a space filled with innumerable spectators. A live band contributes to the exclusive ambiance. Abigail Munn is the Ringmaster of the show, and keeps guests updated on what’s happening throughout. In addition to Abigail and the band, only eleven other members make up the on-stage talent.

Noteworthy are Jefferson Freire, whose talents are juggling and the unicycle, and the unbelievably hilarious Natasha Kaluza, one of the host clowns and whose other talent is the hula hoops. The show was fantastic, and everyone delivered jaw-dropping performances. The casts costumes were bright and cheerful and sparkled throughout their performances. Aside from directing a fantastic show, I was proud to hear of Abigails involvement in the Circus industry outside of the ring. She is an active advocate for the betterment of rights for people in the industry, and we take our hats off to her.

Kaleidoscope is fabulous. See it!
