Queerguru is having (another) Timothée Chalamet Appreciation Day(s)

We are having (another) Timothée Chalamet Appreciation Day/s here at QUEERGURU. The first time we held one was back in 2017 when he stared in Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Call Me BY Your Name‘.  We wrote at the time that it is Chalamet who steals almost every single scene.  He already has quite an extensive resume behind him for one so young, but it is his portrayal of sheer innocence as the disarmingly charming Elio that makes you appreciate that you are watching a remarkable talent that is destined for even bigger things in his future.  (You can see our full review HERE). That performance earned the then 17year old an Academy Award Nomination ….. the third youngest to date.

Since then he has starred in movies such as Greta Gerwig’s LADYBIRD and her LITTLE WOMENWoody Allen’s A RAINY DAY IN NEW YORK, Wes Anderson’s THE FRENCH DESPATCH etc etc clearly showing the world he was not a one hit wonder.  Off the screen he became quite the fashion icon.  In 2019  Vogue named Chalamet the most influential man in fashion and credited him for continuing “to ply the boundary between traditional masculinity and femininity,” writing “those fashion choices are all the more impressive considering that Chalamet styles himself. Then in 2023, he was voted Most Stylish Man of The Year by GQ’s readers. (David Beckham was the runner-up!) One year he actually served as one of the co-chairs of the ‘fashion event of the year’ The Met Gala

Now the French/American star has two new movies playing in theaters. From Xmas Day James Mangolds’ A Complete Unknown a biographical drama film about Bob Dylan which has already earned him both rave reviews and a Golden Globe Nomination …..we’re guessing that his 2nd Academy Award Nomination will follow soon.

His 2nd film  out on release right now is Denis Villeneuve’s  DUNE 2 in which  reprised main character Paul Atreides in the original DUNE.  We have to confess the genre of  science fiction films is something we totally ignore here at Queerguru BUT after seeing the photo below, maybe its time we changed our mind.
