Hollywood Florida could never be mistaken for its counterpart in California the home of the motion picture industry.  In fact this beachfront city located between Miami and Fort Lauderdale is one of 10 cites in the US that have the same name. The Florida city has a growing LGBTQ population even thoough it lacks a single gay bar but it is less than 14 miles to Wilton Manors  which wth its streets lined with gay-owned businesses, bars, and hotspots is ranked the “Second Gayest City” in the United States (according to Google).

Two things that Hollywood Florida can lay claim to is the fact that it is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year, and also it holds one of the very first PRIDES of the year in the US.  Even though it may lack gays bars ut still has it has its share of Drag Queens and it was their performances that were the main event at the Celebrations.  Queerguru’s Richard Bolton may have missed the small parade down the city’s main street but he made it in time to see some spirited queens giving their all.
