Queerguru checks out the sheer genius of the Hungarian AI artist David Szauder

Artificial intelligence may be the latest keyword on everyone’s lips right now, but it may come as a shock to discover that it was founded as an academic discipline back in 1956.  It’s been through multiple cycles of optimism throughout its history, but then in 2012 it vastly increased when graphics processing units started being used (AI) is the capability of computational systems to perform tasks typically associated with human intelligence, such as learningreasoningproblem-solvingperception, and decision-making. It is a field of research in computer science that develops and studies methods and software that enable machines to perceive their environment and use learning and intelligence to take actions that maximize their chances of achieving defined goals.

However, we really appreciate its usage when it’s in the hands of talented media artists. We focus on the word talented, as the recent explosion of usage of AI is already throwing up work/art that seems to he a waste of this remarkable new development.  But when AI is well used, the result is nothing short of genius, like the portfolio of Hungarian artist David Szauder, who has been a Digital (AI) artist ‘since ages‘ and who has also been teaching ‘AI’ courses at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design.  From 2009 to 2014 he worked as the curator at the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Berlin (.CHB). David Szauder was a visiting lecturer at the Film Academy, Potsdam, in addition to leading workshops on interactive media in Berlin and Budapest since 2010.  But its A! art that has attracted soime 1.4 million followers, which we are so proud to be one

Choosing just three of his works to share with you is a nearby impossible task ……but we did it nevertheless

Equilibrium is a state in which various forces and/or influences are balanced – an ideal situation, yet one that is extremely fragile. It only takes a small flaw of disturbance for this balance to collapse, wheher it concerns society, our mental state, or even our physical condition.  All of this accompanied by the fantastic music of @massiveattackofficial

Strange Love: Love is a difficult matter, and i dont think its difficult because its a state of being, but because its hatd to define what it actually means.  What I know that means something completely different whwn yiu are 16, and of course, later on when you’re 50.  Oh, and this was the first song i ever heard from Depeche Mode. DM was considered too “Western” at the time in Hungary, and I really didnt understand the lyrics, but I thnk even then it got stuck in my head- especially when i wanted to understand how strange is strenge love.

Art of Escape: is not an example.  Not a defense.  It is the paradox of excessive presence.  I am most present when  i ptetend not to be

And meanwhile somewhere,  someone breaks this movement down into data points

Finale : The light fades, but surveillance remains
