The last weekend in August, marking the end of summer in the US, is Labor Day …. the last time when we can wear white. In the UK, it’s a Bank Holiday and is one of just 4 Official holidays in UK. In Germany, however, this is the weekend they celebrate Pride Art in Berlin, which sounds the most fun.
It has a spectacular setting in a former prison in Berlin-Lichterfelde, which lends itself superbly to its concept of a queer vision without borders. Part of Folsom Europe Festival, the exhibition is called UNBOUND this year. There are some 50 LGBTQI+ artists from around the world who see art as a space of freedom – beyond social and sexual constraints. With their (fetish) art, they take a stand against cultural and sexual conventions and radically and sometimes defiantly resist social constraints
