Nothing brightens our day more than having a movie like Poreless land in the Queerguru intray. Delicously funny, as camp as Christmas, and potentially very un-PC story that follows Akram, a fabulous, queer Muslim beauty entrepreneur who must figure out how to compete in a Shark Tank-like product pitch contest after suffering an untimely allergic reaction. At its heart, the film is about the tension between how the world demands we appear and the liberation of being authentically ourselves. Through comedy, the film reframes the queer Muslim experience as both deeply personal and profoundly universal.
Poreless, is co-written and directed by Sundance and Berlin Award-winning director Harris Doran (Kokomo City), and was created by first-time producer and actor Akbar Hamil. Its one of those rare wee films where it uis so obvious the whole (talented) cast and crew had such fun mskng it
Now after a spectacular Film Festival run the film’s distributor Switchboard has officially made Poreless live for all to watch on their YouTube channel — it they had only sent us a jar of Poreless as well and our life would be complete! 10/10
