Regular readers of queerguru will know that we often get a tad obsessive about projects that turn out to be dear to our heart and that we have been more than happy to promote and support. One such item is newbie filmmaker Joey Kuhn’s debut feature film Those People that he started as a project back in film school. This delightful movie shows a maturity way beyond his years, and he managed to combine this heart-touching story with very high productions values that made it one of the very best LGBT movies we discovered last year.
We didn’t just review it ….click here …. but we also got a chance to interview Joey for P.T.V. when his movie had its East Coast Premiere at the Provincetown International Film Festival last summer …..click here.
Now we can share the news that after playing some 65 Film Festivals worldwide, this coming weekend Those People finally makes its theatrical release in N.Y. and L.A. Our Friday, May 6th, there is 7pm screening at Cinema Village in N.Y. which will be followed by a Q&A with Joey and the actors, moderated by award-winning filmmaker Ira Sachs. Then on Sunday May 8th in LA, there will be a 7:20pm screening at The Arena Cinema which will be followed by a Q&A again with Joey and the actors, moderated by James Franco!
Then the movie will enjoy a one week run at both theaters and then Those People will be out on DVD and digital platforms via Wolfe Video and on (iTunes, Amazon, etc) on June 14th.
