The Oscar goes …… to the Woman in the Red Dress

untitled-design

Two of the most highly anticipated movies are about to hit our screens and even before their release in US movie theaters there is talk of Oscar nominations for both actresses playing the leads.  Kate Winslet’s The Dressmaker swept the Australian Oscars with this outrageous camp story about a woman who returns to her hometown in the Outback after leaving under mysterious circumstances, and whilst ‘hiding’ away in Europe she becomes this phenomenal couture dress designer.

Natalie Portman on the other hand has been receiving rave reviews this week at the Venice Film Festival for her performance as the Former First Lady in Jackie.  Directed by award-winning Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín it tells the tale of the harrowing days that immediately follow the assassination of J.F.K. and critics are hailing it as a career best performance for Portman.

The question on everyone’s lips right now, is will either of these actresses (in the red dresses) end up with another Oscar to add to the first one that they both have.
