It may have already dawned on you that our Queerguru Editor is one of those people that the Republicans really hate more than homosexuals. He is an immigrant! As such so much of American culture is new to him as he was deprived of it growing up. He’s probably caught up with a great deal of since moving to the US but occasionally he is hit with a reminder of what he missed out on.
For example watching the stunning Netflix documentary Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution, which explores the history of LGBTQ+ strand up comedy and its importance as an instrument for social change over the past five decades, he had another of those moments. To prove its point the film featured the creme de creme of queer comics : all stars, or future stars that were a sheer joy to watch.
One of them was 79-year-old Marsha Warfield who’s main claim to fame was the fact that she had starred as Ros the tough no-nonsense in the hit TV series Night Court. It was a program that hadnt ‘traveled” across the Pond so both she, and It , were totally unknown to our Editor.
That all changed in the space of less than 10 mins as her set was based on the fact that she had only come out as a. lesbian in 2017 when she was 70+. Her retelling the story was both heartwarming ad hilarious. So much so that Editor declared his ardent love there and then.
Take a look at the video below and within minutes you too will be swept away by both her charm and her sheer honesty. She is one very funny lady which such infectious humor.
