NYU CUTS HEALTHCARE FOR TRANS YOUTH: “HISTORY WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU”

This is a Statement we felt dutybound to share in full:

NEW YORK — In response to NYU ending its Transgender Youth Health Program, Tyler Hack (they/them), the Executive Director of the Christopher Street Project, released the following statement:

“NYU’s decision to end the Transgender Youth Health Program is a complete abandonment of its patients. History will not forgive you. Your patients — the very people you’re supposed to provide care for — will not forgive you.

“This is an attack on every single American who cares about their access to quality healthcare. Whether it’s defunding 988 or threatening hospitals and doctors for providing lifesaving healthcare, this Administration’s attacks will have reprehensible outcomes. This will kill kids.

“The Trump Administration is trying to scare institutions into a false choice. Hospitals must choose to stand up to these power grabs and hold the line to protect their patients.”

There’s outrage in New York City’s LGBTQ+community over the decision to end that treatment at NYU Langone

The move comes in the wake of President Trump’s Jan. 2025 executive order banning gender-affirming health care, and a December Trump administration proposal to withdraw federal funds from hospitals providing gender transition treatments to young people.

So-called gender affirming care has inflicted lasting physical and psychological damage on vulnerable young people. This is not medicine. It is malpractice,” Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. previously said.
