With the start of Gay Pride TODAY here’s a listen/look to some new music to kick the month off. Queer Tony Award winning actor/singer Ben Platt (‘Dear Evan Hansen’) is appearing for three weeks in NY’s fabled Palace Theater (think Judy Garland) as part of a 21-city North American tour , Its to promote his new HONEYMIND album. Here’s Queerguru’s favorite track ALL AMERICAN QUEEN
We love Village Voice’s Micheal Musto writing a lot more than his singing. But here he is singing his heart out whilst wearing a very questionable jacket (!). His dance song “Iconic”–an anthem for Pride, is done with Jean Ferreira, with a video shot by Eric S Rivas around the Stonewall Inn and is now officially out on a bevy of platforms.
Grammy Award winning producer/DJ Dave Audé has put together a new cover of “Pride (In the Name of Love)” featuring Crystal Waters, Andy Bell from Erasure, and others. All proceeds will benefit GLAAD, supporting efforts to promote LGBTQ+ acceptance and equality. You can hear it here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mXnQ1INLmIskwJZEsRpfv-riuGcDNfCQ0
