You’ve got hand it to Dr Sharon Husbands the founder and hostess of Naked Boys Reading, she does know some very interesting people (besides us). She has invited one to be the Guest Curator at the next NBR Event which takes place on May 24th at the Miranda Bar, Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, London
Prem Sahib is a London based artist whose artistic practice spans sculpture, painting, works on paper and performance, often evoking the human body through minimalist, or non-figurative techniques. His works can be seen as stand-ins for the body in which a trace is left behind of an intimate encounter based on autobiographical themes of desire, sexuality and community.
For NAKED BOYS READING: SEX AND THE CITY he is curating readings that reflect the diversity of public and private lives and the myriad ways this can exist, serving as a reminder of what is often excluded from the mainstream narratives, such as those expressed by the popular television show. From novel uses of public space, such as cruising, to gentrification, spit-roasts and drinking piss, Sex and the City is a rethinking of the popularised sentiment considered through intersections of race, gender, class and sexuality.
If you have never been to an NBR Event yet (shame on you) then you should know it is the perfect intimate live event: a literary salon featuring in-the-buff readings by local beefcakes, bears, twinks, otters, butch femmes, sissy sluts, boys next door with an exhibitionist streak and lovers of naturism with a well-endowed library.
Started in 2012 at VFD in East London, the event has grown internationally. Now resident at the Miranda Bar at Ace Hotel, London, event occur bi-monthly. We have satellite events in Brighton, Berlin, Toronto, Ottawa, and Sao Paolo and they love to get around.
