When issue no 29 of MEAT one of very favorite Brit queer magazines we just had to phone Editor Adrian Lourie to know MORE . (Sometimes it so helps having friends in all the best queer places.)
He put us in touch with LEVI this issue’s star model so we can find out more about him. Here is what he told us :
- I’m quite proud of my working-class roots. My first job was chopping weeds with my grandfather in a cotton fi
- When I was 21, I entered a student design competition and won a scholarship to study in London; it was the first time I’d left Texas and the first time I’d ever flown.
- I’ve always preferred subcultures to pop culture (which I’m useless in). In my teens, I was a total goth. In my university days, I was a club kid and the mother of a Vogue house in London. I still prefer more alternative music and subcultures but no longer adopt the dress codes.
- I met my partner Matthew while studying at Central Saint Martins, and we’ve been together for 17 years.
- Immediately after uni we started a fashion brand with just £5k in savings and no investment. We’ve had our business for 13 years and have achieved quite a few things.
- An average arm span is usually about equal to a person’s height. My arm span is 5 inches greater than my height, meaning I have VERY long arms. They are great for reaching things and look quite elegant, which was great when I danced. They are not so great for weightlifting, though, as I have to move the weights a lot further. Swimming or boxing would be better used for them.
