Its ‘Goodbye’ to ANDREW CHRISTIAN who made us all feel so much more sexy for the past 20 years

In the 20+ years since Latin designer Andrew Christian started his eponymous underwear, which made a lot of gay men (out on dates) very happy, and the designer impressively wealthy.  Now at the ripe old age of 39, Christain has announced he is shutting down the brand, and also selling off his two very impressive homes in Los Angeles and Key West, Florida, for $4.199 million and $1.265 million, respectively.

Christan is openly gay and stated that his brand was created partly as a “declaration of gay existence” and as a way to create space and visibility for the LGBTQ+ community. He said his personal experiences growing up and coming to terms with his identity in Fresno, California, influenced his work, and that he wanted his brand to be considered as a ‘sanctuary’  for the LGBTQ+ community. He quickly became known as a marketing innovator, using video and creating content alongside queer models, dancers, drag queens, and adult film stars to spotlight his designs years before social media.

However, despite his international success, Christian has disclosed how the changing fashion and political landscape was a crucial factor in deciding to shut down his brand.  He recently stated,  “There’s been a clear shift in consumer behavior, with many people — especially younger generations — buying from fast fashion platforms like Shein and Temu, where you can get underwear for $3,”

Now Christian has dropped his final collection, BESPOKE, and the 11-piece line includes t-shirts, shorts, and of course underwear, which became his signature work outfitting the waistbands of men’s briefs, jocks and thongs from coast-to-coast and around the world.  He described it thus BESPOKE is my final collection—a deeply personal reflection of my own style and the journey that brought me here. These are timeless, classic pieces with thoughtful details—each one designed with the same love and intention that have guided me from the beginning.”

He added: “This collection is about authenticity—what I truly wear, what I truly love, and what I want to leave behind as my creative signature. After more than two decades of designing for my community,  BESPOKE represents one last, precious chance to wrap you in the love that you’ve given me all these years.”
