Imelda Staunton is a stunning Broadway Baby

Last year London’s National Theater revived Stephen Sondheim’s classic musical Follies for the very first time since it was first originally produced in the UK some 30 years ago.  The production with a star-studded cast led by Imelda Staunton garnered rave reviews and was both a critical and commercial success and so the Theater telecast a performance of it live that was broadcast in movie theaters across the globe.  Now they are having encore screenings of this, and you can locate the nearest theater to you at  http://ntlive.nationaltheatre.org.uk/productions/63102-follies.

Follies is set in New York, 1971. There’s a party on the stage of the Weismann Theatre. Tomorrow the iconic building will be demolished. Thirty years after their final performance, the Follies girls gather to have a few drinks, sing a few songs and lie about themselves.  It’s a stunning ensemble piece that features iconic songs like “Broadway Baby,” “I’m Still Here,” “Too Many Mornings,” “Could I Leave You?” and “Losing My Mind” and its original Broadway production won 7 Tony Awards.
