If you ever had thought you could look as fab as CHER in one of her outrageous sparkly Bob Mackie creations (!)  now is your chance to actually get you hands on one. Next week Queerguru is heading to NY on December 10th for an exclusive exhibition at The Carlyle of UNMISTAKABLY MACKIE an extraordinary collection of the legendary fashion and costume maestro’s dazzling and award-winning creations.   On the following day ALL of the outfits and several original sketches are being sold off at Julien’s Auctions in Los Angelas …….don’t panic as you can bid online.

 

 

You can expect to find  numerous costumes and performance pieces worn by Mackie’s greatest muse, Cher on The Sonny and Cher Show and The Cher Show, editorials and appearances include: a three-piece 1920s-inspired custom design worn by Cher in the Vogue editorial spread “60s Years of Cher,” shot by Richard Avedon; a two-piece evening ensemble worn by Cher for publicity images and in her performance of Ethel Waters’ 1933 song “Stormy Weather” on The Sonny and Cher Show in 1971; her stunning 1920s style three-piece costume of a fur-trimmed velvet coat, gold bead gown, and a matching beaded turban worn on The Sonny and Cher Show when she performed “It Had to Be You” (Mackie’s sketch of this design also being offered); to his vintage designs adorned on today’s Hollywood fashion icons Pink and Miley Cyrus such as: Pink’s 1987 archival “Earthquake” dress worn at the 2022 American Music Awards, Cyrus’ 2024 GRAMMY® performance 2002 archival embellished dress worn while performing “Flowers” after winning for “Pop Solo Performance 2024;” a custom beaded bright orange gown worn by Carol Burnett in the opening of The Carol Burnett Show in 1975; as well as the archive of his most groundbreaking design sketches of Judy Garland’s television show wardrobe, Carol Burnett’s Norma Desmond costume illustration, Diana Ross’ The Midnight Special embellished watermelons evening gown, Vogue 1974 “60 Years of Cher” editorial, Madonna’s 1991 Academy Award sequin white strapless evening gown and more by the TONY Award, nine-time Emmy award-winning designer, three-time Academy Award nominee, and the Television Academy Hall of Fame inductee.
