Ian Hallard’s ‘The Way Old Friends Do’ a new comedy about devotion, desire and Abba’s’ dancing queens.

Can we ever get enough of Abba?   No need to answer, it’s a rhetorical question as we know there’s a bit of Dancing Queen in all of us.  London already has ABBA Voyage a virtual concert with avatars, depicting the group in a purpose-built venue officially called the ABBA Arena.  But for those who like a more intimate experience (!) with the Swedish super group then you should head over to the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park London.

Ian Hallard‘s The Way Old Friends Do is a new comedy about devotion, desire, and Abba’s’ dancing queens.

In the late 1980s, two school friends from Birmingham tentatively come out to one another: one as gay, the other as an ABBA fan. Nearly thirty years later, a chance meeting sets them on an exciting new path, and they decide to form the world’s first ABBA tribute band – in drag. But can their friendship survive the tribulations of a life on the road; one full of platform boots, fake beards and a distractingly attractive stranger?

The play is directed by Hallards actor/director/writer (and major Abba fan) husband Mark Gatiss so it’s a real family affair  It is hot from its Birmingham premiere where it garnered son totally fab reviews and will have a months run in London.  Don’t miss out on the fun.
