Any new Almodovar film is cause for celebration, and even more so this time as its his first one made in English. Starring two Oscar winning actors Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton, THE ROOM NEXT DOOR, is not being released until ‘award season’ in December.
The film follows Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton), who were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter, and they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.
The film, also starring John Turturro, is due to be released in New York and Los Angeles on December 20, 2024, before expanding to select cities on Christmas day., will then open in theaters nationwide in January 2025. Needless to say we cannot wait.
