Our very favorite resident lesbian comic has taken a leaf out of Dusty Springfield’s book and hooked herself up with the son of a preacher man and together they are going to tour the South and spread the Holy Word. What this ‘word’ is exactly, we are really not sure, but knowing Ms B very well, we know that it will be hilariously funny, politically scathing, and as potty mouthed as only she can be.
For Loosening the Belt : a Tour for Humanity Kristen has joined forces with radical punk preacher Pastor Jay Bakker, who had the great good fortune of having Tammy Faye Bakker as a mother. They will be hopping on a 50ft vegetable oil powered tour bus with, The Heavenly Chillbillies, Dwayne Duke and SarahRose Marie and traveling from Buffalo, NY to New Orleans. We caught up with Kristen as she was starting to pack some sensible shoes and asked her what we could expect from the show. She promised that it would be ‘part punk rock revival, part comedy show and part variety hour ….. Loosen the Bible Belt is about laughter, acceptance, and radical love. Beloved by folks ranging from atheist gays to straight Christians, LTBB celebrates all life through comedy, scripture and music.’
