Heated Rivalry the hit queer ice hockey TV show sweeps the Canadian Screen Awards

Congrats to the creators and stars of HEATED RIVALRY who swept the boards of the Canadian Screen Awards this weekend with a record-breaking 16 wins.  The gay hockey romance, a major audience favorite, won every category it was nominated for across the two-night ceremony — including Best Drama Series, Direction, Writing, Lead Performer for Hudson Williams and Supporting Performer for Sophie Nélisse.

This brings their total haul to date to 31, which includes a Peabody, GLAAD, Queertie and Critics Choice Awards

Connor Storrie found himself ineligible as he is an American actor, an issue generously acknowledged by his Canadian co-star in his acceptance speech “If I could cut this award down the middle, I would. Because if these gay, yearning little bottom eyes didn’t have a big, sexy Russian to feast upon, my performance wouldn’t be as good,” Williams ended his acceptance speech. “So to the honorary Canadian, Connor Storrie, I share this award with you.

PS The show has been signed up for a second season.
