Heads up to Pantene for this heart-touching advert with trans girl + her family

Many corporations are now moving forward featuring members of the LGBTQ community when they make advertisements for their products.  The haircare brand Pantene went one step further and made a whole TV commercial that tells the true story of a trans girl and her family

Sawyer is the daughter of lesbian couple Ashley and Ellie, and is described by her mother as an “old soul”, “spunky” and “creative” She added ”.  that when Sawyer was “wearing the clothing she wanted and her hair” it was the “first day where I saw her”. “She has always been super gender creative, and hair has been a big part of her transition,” Ashley said. “Once she told us that she identified as a girl, she immediately wanted to grow her hair out.

The  Twitter post for this excellent two-minute advert read “Hair is a large part of our identity. And for LGBTQ+ youth like Sawyer, who choose to express themselves, their style and their creativity through their hairstyle, it can help them feel seen.

The last word goes to Sawyer who said that being allowed to grow her hair out made her feel “good and confident”. She added: “It made my insides match my outsides.”
