‘Hate has no place in this modern world’ says Malay same-sex couple

It takes a lot for a gay couple to go public with their relationship in a country where homosexuality is still illegal. Though authorities in Singapore rarely enforce it, BUT if they did those found guilty can be sentenced to two years in prison.

Last week an openly gay Malay couple 30-year-old Faliqh and  41-year-old Kaal released a short video about their life together over the past 7 years..  Produced by Dear Straight People, and it is very clear to see that the two men are blissfully happy especially as they have been totally accepted and welcomed by Kaal’s family.

Sadly not everyone in Singapore shares their happiness and when the video went viral on You Tube last week there were twice as many ‘dislikes’ as ‘likes’ with  some users condemning their same-sex relationship.

Faliqh said on Facebook the comments were ‘harsh’. But, he wrote, the many heartfelt comments proved mindsets were changing. ‘Hate has no place in this modern era’ .  ‘If you you are holding that attitude. Bye, Felicia’ he wrote.
