In his 2023 solo Exhibition RIVERMAN at the Fitzrovia Gallery in London, George Meyer-Weil shows a new body of works on paper and canvas, depicting the male figure along waterways. His latest paintings reveal man as a small part of a much larger ‘picture’ referencing his elemental collectedness to water and the natural world.
Over two decades ago Meyer-Weil relocated from the Rhine to London. An artist and designer, he works in multimedia including painting, drawing design for costume and stage.

He told Queerguru “My travels along many rivers from the Amazon to the Zambesi, and my observations and experiences of man’s relationship to watercourses have had a lasting influence on my life and my work. I am particularly fascinated and inspired by the transformative nature of water as refractive and reflective processes create endlessly shifting abstract images from original forms.
