Former pro-hockey player Harrison Browne shares his transitioning journey in the excellent film’PINK LIGHT ‘

Almost every trans story that makes it to film and lands in Queerguru’s inbox is such a sheer joy.  As the G part of LGBTQA+  I find that it’s the perfect way to learn (and appreciate) more the different journeys our trans brothers and sisters undertake to become their true selves

One such excellent example is A PINK LIGHT that we just got to preview before its World Premiere at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival next month.

It’s the story of Scott, a trans man who gets injured playing hockey, and in his wooziness, he starts to reminisce about his college days as his younger pre-transition being in the game and struggling with being himself.  We see them at a frat party when they were still ‘Scotty’  and surrounded by teammates from the women’s hockey team and dealing with all the self-doubt  of what the future may hold for them.

This short feature film is the real-life story of trans former professional hockey player Harrison Browne who is making his filmmaking directing (and co-writing)  debut.  They had stressed in an interview.  It’s just a person living their life, enjoying their sport, and coming to grips with new stages in their life.  I wanted to show messy conversations, the imperfectness of interactions between cis people and trans people, and just knowing that we’re all just trying to figure each other out.”

Pink Light makes for compelling vieiwng especially bearing in mind that Browne said making this movie represents closure in real life and on the screen.
