It’s impossible to describe ISAAC MIZRAHI as ‘just another fashion designer’ as the man has enjoyed a whirlwind career that would make anyone else feel dizzy just reading the long list: television presenter and actor, theater director, costume designer, radio show contestant, red carpet correspondent. reality show judge, comic book writer etc etc …. he even had a documentary made about his life, so we’re not sure when he found the time to hang out with his celebrity pals such as , Sarah Jessica Parker, Debra Messing and Natalie Portman
Mizrahi’s main fashion line was shuttered in 1997 and all his samples and runway models were put into storage. Until now that is. Mizrahi has decided it’s time to empty out his closet, and in an unprecedented move is selling off all of his archives of clothes that had featured in his very successful Fashion Shows over the years.
So there is now a new website that feature more than 8,000 pieces in the archive and are one of a kind samples from the designer’s ready-to-wear collection from the years 1987 – 2012. They are hand embroidered, hand sewn, pieces that appeared on his runway, on the pages of fashion magazines and on red carpets, featured on some of the most iconic figures in the world from those years.

In a statement Mizrahi said “I’m selling my archive so as to create a purpose for these beautiful things. I feel they will do better living in the world than in a storage space, this is not about nostalgia, it’s more about giving these clothes a modern reason for being.” |
Also available on the website are pieces from the designer’s secondary line and his menswear line. After the initial launch, the collection will continue to roll out new archive pieces every few weeks. Prices range from $300 to $7,000.
