Boycott Dolce & Gabbana For Real

Two years ago when the designing duo behind the ubiquitous luxury clothing line Dolce & Gabanna came under heavy fire from the LGBTQ community for their very disparaging remarks about the freedom of same-sex couples to their children, they took five months to come up with a very lame public apology.  The fact that their was such a public outcry and initiative to boycott their brands probably forced their hand, as at the end of the day it is all simply about selling product.

On that occasion Domenico Dolce ‘We shouldn’t become too rigid. We need to understand, accept everyone’.  Now he and Stefano Gabbana are back in the headlines again for all the wrong reasons for being the only major fashion house in the world who are desperate enough to want to dress Melania Trump.  The infamous jacket of theirs that Mrs Trump wore on an official visit to Sicily recently cost $51.5K which is outrageous, and given her husband’s extreme cost-cutting program that is particularly harmful to middle-class and hard working families, is highly offensive.

So now the designers have responded to this latest stinging criticism of what can only be politely called, their misguided sense of morality and rather extreme political views, with their own line of Boycott T shirts.  Somehow the humor of this is completely lost on us, and frankly at $245 a pop, we will not be tempted at all.  Rather we would simply prefer to continue what so many of us started two years ago, and just boycott everything from their brand.
