Grayson Perry CBE RA is a celebrated English artist who is known equally for his ceramic vases as for his cross-dressing. Winner of the prestigious Turner Prize considered the highest award for Art in the UK, Perry has become one of the most articulate forces behind the whole cross-dressing movement, even donning one of his favorite dresses to collect his CBE (a UK Honor) from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace. He claimed in an interview that nothing ever phases the Royal Family, and thanks to his informative TV shows, Perry is trying to ensure that general public become equally accepting of cross-dressers, and also people who are genderfluid and have transitioned too
In his recent new four-part short-form series on Channel 4 called Born Risky reflects the Perry’s ongoing commitment to pushing boundaries and he meets trans people who take great risks to be themselves. One is EJ, 42, a female-to-male transgender fashion historian who is now comfortable in his male identity but who bravely wears wear a dress for the first time in 30 years to challenge traditional gender stereotypes.
