AER LINGUS ‘s unwavering support for DUBLIN GAY PRIDE is something wonderful to behold

As the overgrown playground bully whom we know as The Orange Man in The White House turns his wrath to our LGBTQA+ community, we stand by horrified as so many Companies who were our allies have hastily withdrawn their support.  There have been so many in the US and so we want to stop writing about them, as it only spreads anger and gloom among us all.  Today, however, we want to mark the end of Pride Month to acknowledge one wonderful exception, an  ally that has not only continued its sponsorship of our community, but is still doing it in such a fab style .

AER LINGUS is the national airline of Ireland and established its Proud Flies network in 2017 as part of their Diversity and Inclusion programme. This initiative aims to foster an inclusive and open environment for LGBTQ+ employees within the company, empowering them to express their authentic selves at work. A year later, they became the official airline of the Dublin Pride Parade. Their participation has included sponsoring and actively taking part in the parade, and in  fact in 2023 over 300 Aer Lingus staff joined the parade, along with a float featuring a replica A320 aircraft.

What Queerguru loves in particular is that alongside the financial, physical and moral support,  the Airline makes these wee videos featuring gay members of their Cabin Crew, which are brimming with such love and genuine passion. Here are two of our favorites:-

PS For history buffs, you should know that Aer Lingus launched its first transatlantic service from Shannon to New York in 1956. This was a significant development, as it provided a direct air link between Ireland and the United States, a popular destination for Irish emigrants throughout history.   PLEASE do not tell The Orange Man about this
