A Drag TV show WITHOUT Ru Paul? C’est impossible, you may say, but (thankfully) it’s not. After all… enough is enough! So Revry TV has the inspired idea of having actor and comedian Murray King host their new drag competition show that starts screening in June. KING OF DRAG will be the first series to star Drag Kings. The trailer below not just gives a peek at ten of America’s top drag kings vying for the win, but it also reveals a very impressive lineup of celebrity guest judges. Over the course of the
series, these judges will include Lisa Rinna, Bridesmaids director Paul Feig, Tony nominee Cole Escola, Carmen Carrera, and Murray Hill’s HBO Somebody Somewhere co-star Bridget Everett. The full-time panel of regular judges include Tenderoni, Sasha Velour, Wang Newton, Gottmik, and Revry co-founder and CEO, Damian Pelliccione.
Christopher J. Rodriguez, Co-Founder and Chief Content Officer at Revry told QUEERGURU “King of Drag is one of the most ambitious original programs we’ve ever developed” He added. “We’re going to give the drag competition format a run for its money and give audiences something fresh and original.”
However, what really impressed us was the promise that the new series will expansively represent drag while promoting inclusion, authentic self-expression, and diverse gender identities, including trans masc, cisgender women, non-binary and more.
