A STUDY OF SKIN AND SHADOW : an Exhibition by Declan Kelly + Babs Day : The Dean Docklands, Dublin

If you are in Dublin this weekend, then you must make tracks to THE DEAN DOCKLANDS, which is hosting  A STUDY OF SKIN AND SHADOW an exhibition of work by two Irish artists  @_declankelly and @babsdaly.  A Study of Skin and Shadow is an exploration of vulnerability and self-expression, light and shade, what community means and how it can work for you or against you. We could wax lyrical about them both for days, but do yourself a favour and go see for yourself. You might maybe even meet them both, if your timing’s right.

Declan Kelly is an Irish photographer based in London, and at the heart of his practice is a commitment to queer visibility and representation. Through photography, he seeks to document people and communities. His work, which sits between portraiture and fashion photography, also explores themes of masculinity. Kelly said the inspiration for these themes comes from Pride itself, explaining, “For me personally, Pride means showing up for the community. This year, that feels especially urgent.”

Babs Daly is a professional photographer currently living in Dublin with over 15 years of experience within a range of different areas of photography.  She is also a longtime collaborator of GCN, and recently photographed the magazine covers
