queerguru’s favorite all-male dance company BalletBoyz have made their very first full length feature film which will receive its World Premiere in the UK on BBC2 Channel nest week. ‘Young Men’ is about a group of young soldiers barely old enough to fight, as they experience the indiscriminate brutality of warfare. The film shot on location in Northern France is set in World War 1 and it follows a young solider and his squadron’s experience of basic training, combat, and ultimately, the destruction of modern warfare, and the devastation of a whole continent.
The movie is a carefully choreographed dance and is without any spoken words at all.
Originally conceived as stage piece with choreography by Iván Pérez, ‘Young Men’ features a score by critically acclaimed recording artist Keaton Henson which is performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra. The movie will Premiere on the UK’s BBC 2 Channel on 12 November at 8.30pm as part of 14-18 NOW, the UK-wide arts program for the centenary of the First World War.
