Ryan Murphy is starting a Feud

feud

Ryan Murphy, TV’s man with the midas touch,  looks set to notch another success on his belt as he is developing a third brand new anthology series at FX network. The 8 episode series is to be called Feud because, well it will explore famous feuds.

Murphy is kicking off with a real humdinger that will have every drama queen glued to their TV sets as it tells the story of the legendary rivalry between two of the greatest movie stars of all time : Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. Set in 1962 when they came together to collaborate on a picture each hoped would revive their fading careers. It worked as  What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?  became critically acclaimed and box office smash and received five Academy Awards nominations and became a cult classic.

However the real drama was when the cameras stopped rolling as  Crawford and Davis loathed each other and made everyone’s life on the set hell.

Murphy has pulled put all the stops and has cast Susan Sarandon as Davis and Jessica Lange, and this afternoon he announced that Sarah Paulson will play Academy Award winner Geraldine Page which seems a good fit to us.

Murphy’s rather starry cast also includes Alfred Molina who will play the film’s director Robert Aldrich, Stanley Tucci who will portray studio head Jack Warner, Judy Davis as  gossip columnist Hedda Hopper and Dominic Burgess will be Crawford and Davis’ co-star Victor Buono.

However don’t expect to see it on the small screen until 2017 though, and we hope by then Murphy will have realized his grave mistake in having the great Olivia de Havilland portrayed by the innocuous Catherine Zeta Jones.  Urgh!
