queerguru wants to congratulate Elizabeth Streb the celebrated modern dance choreographer and performer (and our friend) and her director/producer Catherine Gund on the nomination of their film ‘Born To Fly’ for a News & Documentary Emmy Award. For our full review of the movie click here, and to watch the video of our interview with Elizabeth for PTV last summer, click here.
The competition for their category ‘Outstanding Arts and Cultural Programming’ is fierce however, and queerguru has seen and reviewed two of the other nominated films : Very Semi-Serious: A Partially Thorough Portrait of New Yorker Cartoonists, and Packed In A Trunk.
Also nominated : in the Best Documentary category are Life Itself, Finding Vivian Maier and Cutie and The Boxer. Plus Larry Kramer In Love & Anger has been nominated for an Outstanding Historical Programming Emmy.
The winners are announced on September 21st, we have all our digits crossed.
