Hassan Hajjaj is a contemporary artist and photographer who lives and works between London, UK and Marrakech, Morocco, and is known as the “Andy Warhol of Marrakech.” He has just done his first showcase for Colette the iconic Paris store where he mixed Louis Vuitton with traditional African apparel and paraphernalia. Hajjal created these totally stunning brightly colored images infusing his fashion portraiture with his African heritage and incorporating using woven plastic mats, stacks of empty canned goods, and cheap market finds.
The Installation at Colette 213 Rue Saint Honoré, 75001 Paris will run until August 28th https://www.facebook.com/hassanhajjajart/
P.S. Last year Hajjaj premiered his movie Karima A Day In The Life of A Henna Girl at LACMA, after you watch the trailer below, you’ll be totally desperate to see the whole movie.
