Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , , , , , ,

Peaches Christ is an American underground drag performer, emcee, filmmaker, and actor who is worshipped as a queer icon in their hometown of San Francisco where they got their first break performing in Heklina’s legendary Tranny Shack back in 1996. One of their many life events since then was the San Francisco de Young Museum actually honored them with a “Decade of Peaches Christ Retrospective”

Peaches is particularly known for their love of horror …the camper the better…having once even directed a star-studded indie slasher movie All About Evil.

We caught up with Peaches on the eve of them taking one of their most famous roles of Mommie Queerest on a mini UK Tour with Heklina. Underneath this wickedly funny parody the show also shows Peaches’s real respect for the cult status of the original movie Charismatic with a real passion for their craft, Peaches is, as always, a sheer joy to talk with

Performance artist and queer theatre maker ALEXIS GREGORY talks with Queerguru about his latest piece FUTURE QUEER

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , , , , ,

Queerguru first met London-based queer playwright, performer, director and producer. ALEXIS GREGORY some years back when he wrote and starred in SEX/CRIME some five years ago. Since that interview, Queerguru has become both a fan of his work and his friend. We were more than happy to be able to report on his outstanding success with RIOT ACT his remarkable verbatim show, created entirely word for word out of interviews with three key players in the history of the LGBTQ+ rights movement.

Now Gregory is back in our sights again with his latest performance piece FUTURE PIECE which he is bringing to Bethnal Green’s Town Hall Hotel for two nights only later this month. Queerguru’s Contributing Editor Ris Fatah will be in the audience to review the piece but meanwhile, Queerguru Editor In Chief filmed a Zoom interview with Gregory to talk about what we can expect from his look into the future

For the 45th Annual Carnival in Provincetown, the gay mecca on the tip of Cape Cod, they chose THE LAND OF TOYS for its theme this year . In what is fast becoming a tradition for Queerguru we invited NY Celebrity Photographer TRIXIE VAN GOGO to come to record the event in her own inimitable style

Queerguru visits THE MADONNA INN possibly the most fabulous hotel in the World.

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , , ,

Queerguru’s new Travel Editor RICHARD BOLTON is in California this week so we had him stay at the States’s legendary The MADONNA INN, San Luis Obispo. It has 110 highly stylized individually-themed guest rooms… no two are alike … and there is no hotel ANYWAY quite this fabulous ! It first opened in 1958 (so is NOTHING to do with the singer) .

As our video shows it is the ultimate in fantasy and is so way beyond camp. Every style lover should stay here at least once in their lives : it is an experience you will never ever forget

Queer actor/performer MATTHEW BALDWIN talks about getting paid to be an Evil Queen (and much more )

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , , , , ,

Brit queer actor/writer/performer …… and Pantomime Dame aficionado …. Matthew Baldwin talks about his ninth season starring in this quintessential English (queer) art form. Queerguru advised Baldwin that this would be the first time ever we had interviewed a Queen who was paid to be evil!  This Holiday Season at Londo’n’s Charing Cross Theatre Baldwin stars in SLEEPING BEAUTY TAKES A PRICK. In case you didn’t pick up on the hint this is an ‘adult-only panto !!!!

As well as his love of playing evil queens, the multi-talented and extremely successful Baldwin has one of those resumes that make for fascinating reading. We picked up him writing a monologue for Mark Gatiss’ QUEER season in London. Kings Head Theatre …… plus the time in a freezing cold London pub/theatre he stripped naked to play his part ….. and there is so much more

23 November 2023 – 13 January 2024 Charing Cross Theatre, London
