The World AIDS Museum and Educational Center In Wilton Manors, Florida has announced plans to commemorate WORLD AIDS DAY on December 1st 2020. They will present the official kick-off to the day,, that is themed this year as Rock the Ribbon, at 8.30 am .
Hosted by The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale, the event will feature special guests Chuck Panozzo, the openly gay Styx rock band member and AIDS activist, and Laura Vivas, recording artist and former contestant on The Voice. Plus Performances by Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus, and DJ Aulden Brown.
“As an advocacy and learning center, World AIDS Museum is proud to present this open to everyone effort that keeps HIV care and education at the forefront,” said Requel Lopes, executive director of WAM. “World AIDS Day remains as relevant today as it’s always been, reminding people and governments that HIV has not gone away. There is still a critical need for increased funding for the AIDS response, to increase awareness of the impact of HIV on people’s lives, to end stigma and discrimination and to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV.”

P.S. Before the event the World AIDS Museum will host 40 Days of Giving with The Colors of HIV, original works by local artist Toby Gotesman Schneier. It is a series that reflects many different aspects of HIV/AIDS. The paintings serve as visual representations of the emotional moments experienced by the families whose lives have been affected by the virus.
