Whilst Brit Performers and real life partners Dale K and Callum Sterling’s gooey kiss in a TV advert for Cadbury’s Cream Egg has gone viral , there is another touching queer advert from Mexico that has grabbed Queerguru’s attention.
The short film, for Doritos which was released over Christmas in Mexico, and titled “El mejor regalo”, which translates to “the best gift” in Spanish, is based on a true story. Javier, a university student traveling home for Christmas with a friend named Manuel, who “didn’t have anywhere to go for the festive season.”
The advert shows the three of them spending time together and the father begins to notice that his son and Manuel, who are seen cuddling one another and holding one another, are more than just friends.
We see the father searching Reddit for advice, asking: “Hello, I’m a 52-year-old divorced father and need some help,” he writes. “I think my son and his friend are a couple and he won’t tell me.““How can I let them know that everything is OK?”
