Who knew that Brit gay heartthrob actor Russell Tovey could dance too?  Tovey is  best known for Looking, Being Human , The History Boys and The Pass where he seemed more than happy to show us all of his talent.

Now he is one of the stars who are making videos for  British composer Fabio D’Andrea’s new album ‘24’ that hopes to make people see classical music in a new way.  For ‘Something To Love”  Tovey took dancing lessons at Pineapple Studios in Covent Garden London and they certainly paid off.

The video shows  Tovey as an outwardly smiling celebrity on the red carpet. However, he then retreats into himself to show his mental health is breaking down behind the fame and craving a simpler, more innocent version of himself.

Tovey says the piece is very personal and relevant to many people in the social media era: ‘It’s like compare and despair. Everyone does it. You look at Instagram and you don’t realise why but you suddenly feel a bit low.’

P.S,  Russell Tovey is part of an all star cast performing in the hilarious THE UNDERSTUDY .  It is the story of an underdog – a failed husband, a failing father, a failing actor, and the impossible choice he’s going to have to make between stealing the show and stealing another man’s wife.

This Online Performance happens over two nights May 20th and 27th and all proceeds from the play will be split between Acting For Others, the Equity Charitable Trust, Equity’s Benevolent Fund and The Theatre Development Trust, run by the Society of London Theatre and UK Theatre.  Full details at https://www.understudyplay.com/
