On Wednesday, March 16th at 9:45am over 600 LGBTQ and Allied students from across New York City and Long Island will hold the largest rally in the country to date to denounce Florida’s hateful “Don’t Say Gay Bill” at the LGBT Network’s 26th Annual LGBTQ Youth Conference at Citi Field – and show their support for at-risk, under-fire LGBTQ youth in states like Texas and Florida currently being targeted by out of control, far-right governors and legislatures, much to the concern of their parents and peers.
The rally kicks-off at 9:45am, after the opening session, with a raucous protest against the legislative attacks underway on LGBTQ youth throughout the nation. With LGBTQ youth under attack across the country, including Florida’s homophobic “Don’t Say Gay” bill, Texas’ intrusive and abusive investigations into families of transgender youth, and other proposed anti-LGBT legislation in statehouses, more than 600 of New York’s LGBTQ youth will rally to show their support of LGBTQ youth and declare, loudly and proudly, that WE SAY GAY.
LGBT Network’s 26th Annual LGBT Youth Conference will educate and empower the more than 600 students to advocate for LGBT people and ignite their activism. After the rally, youth participants will attend a series of workshops that will build skills around youth organizing & advocacy, LGBT history, health and social justice and anti-bullying.
