VISUAL AIDS : utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue : bi-monthly online presentation

Antonio Lopez, Tina Chow, 1984, watercolor and pencil on paper

The Visual AIDS Artist+ Registry bi-monthly series is always kicked off with brief presentations from Visual AIDS Artist Members that share recently created artworks with the public. This month’s program will feature presentations from painters David Jester and Patrick DeCastro.

Following this, Kwan Arce curator of the current web gallery elaborates on the inspiration informing their selection of artworks from the Artist+ Registry, a database of work by artists living with HIV, and those who are no longer with us. The curator is joined by several other artists, creatives, and thinkers to discuss relevant themes in the web gallery.

Through a contemplative conversation inspired by the gallery, the panelists will reflect on their memories of leaders, artists, friends, and the community that shaped and defined early AIDS activism.
