We fell in love immediately with Myra DuBois after seeing her perform on Britain’s Got Talent. The Judges …. and the rest of the World ….. could see from this one brief audition why she is not only Drag Royalty but a UK National Treasure too.
Miss DuBois was born in the northern town of Rotherham …… but the less said about that the better ….. and she went to London in 2008 to seek fame and fortune…. and see if the roads really are paved with gold. She began her professional life performing in burlesque clubs and gay bars and has described having a “past life as a bingo caller“.
We were late discovering her (shame) as Mis Dubois is the most hard-working ‘drag artist” in the UK. In 2021 realizing that she stood to miss out on the most attention she’ll ever receive she brought forward her own funeral to make sure people get it right. ‘Dead Funny‘ became a smash-hit Edinburgh Festival show before she took it on an extensive tour of the UK.
She’s also had star turns on the West End Stage in Death Drop and Everybody’s Talking About Jamie before bringing her own solo show to London too
We were not the only ones to be dazzled by her turn as a semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent as Boy George remarked on Twitter “Love the hilarious drag queen”,
Then earlier this year Queerguru managed to persuade Miss Dubois to sit down for a Zoom interview with us. It was a quickie as she was about to do an Antipodean Tour down under. Please don’t tell her BUT it was one of the funniest we have ever done: it is impossible not to be captivated by her charisma and razor-sharp wit.
