Two Types of Queer Happy …….in London

Joseph Aldous‘ debut play GET HAPPY is having its World Premiere at The Pleasance Theatre in London

This award-winning play directed by Piers Blackis a hyperpop glitter explosion about queer individuals’ relationship to happiness. A one-man show following Adam dealing with the death of his mother, his impending birthday and everyone else around him moving on with their lives, the play confronts the issue of ‘getting happy’ when you don’t know what that looks like. Performed by writer Joseph Aldous, Adam navigates his hard-partying lifestyle as it impacts his job and personal relationships, accompanied by a sassy sentient Alexa who’s only too happy to point out his failings.

Get Happy is a familiar story to queer people – can we really make our own happiness? Originally written as part of the Soho Writers’ Lab, Get Happy was longlisted for the Theatre503 International Playwrighting Award 2020, and won the Carlo Annoni Prize 2020.

“Maybe Gender is like life? And like time too? In that, it doesn’t actually exist and yet our world revolves around the expectations we put on it.”

You will travel back to the quaint days of dial-up and MSN, where you’ll follow two strangers on their journeys to become who they always were.

Happy Meal is a  funny, moving and nostalgic story of transition.

From teen to adult,
From MySpace to TikTok,
From cis to trans.

The hit of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2022, Tabby Lamb’s Happy Meal is a joyful queer rom-com where Millennial meets Gen Z and change is all production around. Exhilaratingly staged by Roots and Theatre Royal Plymouth and directed by Jamie Fletcher in a Fringe First.
